9T6 reunion message from Ken and Kam

Bursary Fund Initiative: The U of T MD Class of 9T6 Award

Fellow 9T6 classmates!

It’s hard to believe, but we are approaching 30 years since graduating from medical school! And while our 25-year reunion was disrupted by a pandemic, we are so looking forward to seeing you in beautiful Charlevoix, Quebec from September 24-27th, 2026. Please register before the end of September 2025 to receive the early bird discount!

To celebrate this important milestone, we’re excited to share with you the opportunity to establish an endowment fund (named the MD Class of 9T6 Award), to provide financial support to medical students in need at our alma mater. By raising $50,000 or more across our class, this fund will generate one student award every year in perpetuity! And at this level of funding, the university will match the annual award thereby doubling the impact of our gift.

When we went through medical school, tuition was less than $4000 per year compared with >$25,000 today. Given the incredible privilege we had to attend a medical school that repeatedly ranks in the top ten in the world, we can now have a meaningful impact on the journey of the next generation of Canadian physicians, while creating an enduring legacy for our class, just as so many of our fellow classmates across other graduating years already have.

Please click the link below to access U of T’s secure portal, where you can easily make your donation (through your medical professional corporation or personally) and automatically receive a tax receipt (which is accepted by both Canadian and US tax agencies). We’re encouraging a donation of $1996 (9T6!) but suggest a minimum donation of $1000 to reach our fundraising goal! And I’m especially excited to share that the organizing committee for our reunion has already raised over $10,000, so we’d be incredibly grateful if you could help us maintain this momentum!

With deep gratitude and thanks,
